The United Workers Party (UWP) extends congratulations to our Political Leader, Hon. Allen Chastanet, on his recent appointment to the Board of the International Democrat Union (IDU).
Hon. Chastanet’s appointment is a tremendous honour, not just for the UWP but for Saint Lucia and the wider Caribbean. He now joins a select group of global leaders working together to advance the principles of democracy, freedom and good governance across the world.
The IDU is an alliance of over 80 centre-right political parties committed to promoting democratic ideals and Hon. Chastanet’s selection to its leadership is a testament to his vision, experience,and credibility on the international stage. As one of the few leaders from the Caribbean to hold such a position, he brings a critical regional voice to global conversations on development, leadership and democratic integrity.
This appointment also reflects the continued recognition of Hon. Chastanet’s leadership during his tenure as Prime Minister, where he championed economic growth, social development and regional cooperation.
The UWP is proud of Hon. Chastanet and confident that he will represent Saint Lucia and the UWP with distinction, upholding our values and deepening our international partnerships.
