Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre and Agriculture Minister Alfred Prospere continue to fail the very people they once promised to uplift, our farmers, especially those in the banana industry.
During this year’s budget presentation, it was revealed that banana export revenue has plummeted to a shocking $3 million. This is not just a number, it’s a painful reflection of neglect, mismanagement and broken promises.
Just six years ago, under the United Workers Party, banana exports brought in $18 million. That’s a $15 million collapse under this current SLP administration. Farmers who once had hope now face hardship, abandoned by a government that has clearly lost touch with the agricultural roots of our nation.
The evidence is clear: under the SLP, agriculture is not a priority, it’s an afterthought.
