TOWARDS AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM OF HEALTH CARE

The UWP believes in an integrated system of health care at the local level that requires the public and private sectors to work together towards common objectives.

The goal of this UWP Administration has been to establish a structured, systematic, evolving and affordable system of health care which characterised by excellence in service and delivery.

Since being elected in 2016, this UWP has delivered the following in Healthcare:

  • Opening of OKEU Hospital
  • Opening of the National Respiratory Hospital
  • Construction of the new Micoud Wellness Centre
  • Construction of the new Anse la Raye Wellness Centre
  • Partnered with PAHO to have 17 Health centres across the island upgraded into SMART Health Facilities
  • Commenced Phase 2 for the introduction of National Health Insurance for ALL
  • Partnered with the Starkey Foundation to supply Over 1000 Saint Lucians with free Hearing Aids
  • Over $10 Million in debt to hospitals was forgiven by this Government
  • Increased Medical Aid by $3 Million
  • Got Over 100 Cuban Nurses and doctors to assist with Covid management
  • Free COVID19 testing and recovery care for all citizens
  • Construction of New St Jude Hospital which is currently in the final stages of Phase 2 of the project
  • Increased Hours at the Gros Islet Polyclinic
