Saint Lucia is under siege. In just the last week, our small island has recorded 12 murders, with several more citizens clinging to life in ICU after being shot. This is not just a spike in violence, this is a national crisis. The streets are soaked in fear, families are burying loved ones and communities are living in a constant state of dread.

Yet, in the face of this chaos, the Prime Minister who also holds the portfolio of Minister for National Security has remained completely silent. No statement. No plan. No comfort to a grieving nation. The very person tasked with protecting our people has chosen to disappear when we need leadership the most.

This is not leadership. This is abandonment.

The Saint Lucia Labour Party has proven, time and time again, that it has no real strategy to confront crime. No support for law enforcement. No investments in youth and community programmes. No national dialogue. Just press releases, promises and passivity while our people suffer.

Saint Lucia is no longer safe and that is a direct result of a government that has failed in its most basic duty: to protect its people. We deserve better. We deserve leaders who will face the crisis head-on, not hide behind curtains of silence.

Our people are dying. The time for action is now. Enough is enough!
