Jeremiah Norbert: A Failure, A Hypocrite and a Blatant Liar

Micoud North MP Jeremiah Norbert has proven to be not just a failure as a parliamentary representative, but also a blatant liar who has turned his back on the very people who once stood by him. His hypocrisy has now been laid bare, and no amount of deception can hide the truth.

In 2021, during the election campaign, Norbert suffered a tragic accident that led to the loss of his leg. At that time, then Prime Minister Hon. Allen Chastanet ensured that the Government of Saint Lucia facilitated his medical treatment in neighboring Martinique, a fact that was well known until Norbert, in a desperate attempt to rewrite history, brazenly lied to the public by claiming that the former UWP administration never assisted him.

But here’s where the hypocrisy turns into sheer betrayal, fast forward to 2025, when one of his own loyal supporters suffered a devastating accident, resulting in the loss of both legs. Instead of receiving the same level of care that Norbert once did, the supporter was reportedly sent home prematurely from the hospital and later died.

How could Jeremiah Norbert, now not just an MP but also the Minister for Persons with Disabilities, stand by and allow this to happen? As someone who personally experienced such a tragedy, he should have been the first to ensure that his supporter received the same opportunity for medical care in Martinique. Instead, he did nothing, proving that his concern for the people of Micoud North was nothing more than a campaign slogan.

And now, caught in his own web of lies, Norbert is shamelessly denying the assistance he received in 2021. But Hon. Allen Chastanet has once again exposed the truth, producing WhatsApp conversations from 2021 between himself and then Opposition Leader Philip J. Pierre, confirming that the UWP government did, in fact, step in to assist Norbert when he needed it most.

Jeremiah Norbert has shown Saint Lucians that he is not just an ineffective Parliamentary representative, but a dishonest one. His failure to fight for his own constituents, especially those facing the same hardships he once endured, is disgraceful.

The people of Micoud North deserve better than broken promises, lies, and betrayal. It’s time they hold their so-called representative accountable.
