The recent spate of violence in Saint Lucia, marked by two double homicides over the past weekend, has brought the island’s crime rate to alarming heights. With 40 homicides recorded in the first six months of the year, the situation is becoming increasingly dire, warranting immediate and robust action from both the government.
Whilst Saint Lucians generally use murders as an indication of the crime rate, citizens also continue to report increases in robberies, burglaries, theft, stabbings and other forms of crime.
High crime, especially physical acts of violence places an additional burden on the already struggling healthcare system which has seen a reduction in financial resources. Saint Lucia is in trouble! #PierreEhCare#PuttingYouWorse#SaveOurSaintLucia
