Mary Isaac attended the Bexon Combined School then the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School. She migrated to Canada and attended the Bell High School in Nepean, Ontario. She later graduated from the University of New Brunswick with first class Undergraduate Degrees in Business Administration and Education. Mary is also the holder of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick.
Mary has had a long and distinguished career as a public servant, working in the public sector for several years. She spent most of her career in the civil service and grew through the ranks. Her last posting was Chief Complaints and Investigation Officer, Department of Consumer Affairs, St. Lucia (2002-2013).
In 2009 she was elected as the President of the St. Lucia Civil Service Association (CSA) which position she held until 2015. During her tenure, efforts were made to curb wastage and overhaul the accounting system to make it more transparent. During her time, the long-awaited review of the CSA Constitution was finalized and registered in October 2013. Additionally, to the delight of workers in the private sector, the Labour Code was also enacted during her time.
Mary Isaac also served as President of the Caribbean Consumer Council (CCC).
In 2015, Mary was appointed as opposition Senator for the United Workers Party in the Upper House of the Parliament of St. Lucia.
Within the party structure, Mary is known as a team player. She was selected as the candidate for the UWP in Castries South to contest the 2016 general election.
Mary was appointed as a Government Senator and Minister of Health and Wellness, following the success of the UWP at the 2016 general election until 2021.
Mary is the last of eleven children and mother to a 19 year old daughter.
