Mrs. Jeannine Giraudy-McIntyre was born into a political family as the daughter of the late co-founder and longest serving Chairman of the UWP, Henry Giraudy, which family subsequently became a dynasty with the entry into elective politics of her sister Mara Giraudy-Thompson in Barbados and with Jeannine’s entry as the UWP Candidate for Castries North in the 2021 general election.
An attorney by profession, Jeannine is also an accomplished artist dedicated to the development of various cultural artforms in her homeland. She has dedicated many years of service and experience to her country and community. During the UWP’s tenure from 2016-2021 she served as President of the Senate, Chairperson of the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF), as well as the National Archives Authority. She was tasked by Prime Minister Allen Chastanet to chair the steering committee to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the country’s national independence celebrations which resulted in an innovative and visually spectacular series of events which left an indelible impression on all St.Lucians.
With only two weeks’ notice, Jeannine assisted her party by contesting the 2021 St. Lucia General Elections as the candidate for the Castries North Constituency. She made a very challenging race unexpectedly competitive. Her outstanding organizational skills and her tenacity in all things has led to her election as General Secretary of the United Workers Party.
She is the proud mother of sons John-Michael and Damian and daughter Shayla.
